Please visit our Stockists page to see where you can find our wines locally!
Martha Stoumen Wines does not currently have a tasting room. We know—it's a bummer! We hope to be able to meet you all in person someday, but for now we'll keep it digital.
Please visit our Industry page to see a list of all of the distributors and importers we work with across the country and around the world.
Yes, our wines themselves are vegan, but we’ve recently started using a cork that uses beeswax instead of plastic. If you’d like to know which of our wines use a beeswax free closure, please reach out to Claire at info@marthastoumen.com and she’ll give you the lowdown!
Some of the vineyards we work with are certified organic, and others do not go through the certification process. We are committed to farming in a way that works with nature, and dedicated to the natural wine movement’s goals of greater transparency and environmental responsibility. If you’d like to know more about the specific farming practices at a vineyard we work with, please take a look at our tech sheets.
Martha does not go for certification on the vineyards that she farms herself. Beyond the expense, organic farming rules don’t really address issues like carbon sequestration, erosion control, biodiversity, and soil health as a holistic system.
Many farmers who work organically will certify some of their vineyards but not others. Some, like Hawkeye Vineyard (where Honeymoon’s Chardonnay is grown), go for less cost prohibitive certifications like the “Fish Friendly Farming” program (administered by the California Land Stewardship Institute) that shows a dedication to managing runoff by using cover crops and other regenerative farming practices.
Heck yeah, we love the enthusiasm! Please email your resume to us at careers@marthastoumen.com if you’d like to be considered for a harvest intern position! We review resumes from January to April of each year, with positions starting in August or so.
There is a $20 fee for rerouting shipments if the shipper is able to do it (sometimes they can’t, we’re sorry!). Please email us at info@marthstoumen.com with the address you’d like your package to be rerouted to and we will try to get it diverted.
Due to alcohol shipping laws, it is not possible to reroute packages across state lines: the wine will need to return to us in Sonoma and be re-shipped. For all packages that are returned to us, we charge $15 plus the cost of reshipment.
Using the tracking number emailed to you, please reach out to the shipper (FedEx or GSO) to request that they hold the package at a pick up location, or that they reattempt after your return.
You can set up a free FedEx delivery manager account here https://www.fedex.com/en-us/delivery-manager.html to easily hold your package.

You’ll receive an email with tracking information as soon as your order is ready to ship. We’re a very small team, and so it can take a few days before your order is picked up by FedEx.
Most orders that are received after 11am PST on Thursday will be sent out the following Monday, and orders received after 11am PST on Friday will be sent the following Tuesday.
If your wine is being shipped via FedEx Cold Chain, tracking information won't be available until a day or two before delivery. Cold Chain packages are prepared every Friday and delivered a week and a half later on Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on your location.
We are able to ship to all but 7 states (Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Hawaii, Kentucky, Rhode Island, and Utah). If you live in Mississippi, you’ll need to email us at info@marthastoumen.com to arrange for your wines to be shipped to a package store.
We are unable to ship internationally, but please visit our Stockists page to find our wines in your country.
Wine is heavy, fragile, and temperature sensitive, and there’s a surcharge to make sure that wine is only being sold to and delivered to people 21 years of age and older. Here’s a great article from Esther Mobley at The SF Chronicle that explains some of the ins and outs of moving wine from our winery to you. If you’d like to receive $25 flat rate shipping year round, please sign up for the Martha Stoumen Wines club.
Congratulations, we’re so excited to have you! Click the person icon in the top right corner of any page (or head here).
Once you are logged in, $25 flat rate shipping will automatically apply to all of your orders and you'll be able to purchase wine club exclusive bottles.
Are you an existing wine club member who hasn't logged in since before September 7th, 2021? You'll need to find the email we sent you with the "activate your account" button. We use Shopify for our backend e-commerce. They use your email and phone number as unique identifiers. If you've ever made a purchase on a website that uses Shopify (a lot of websites do!), their database has tied your email and phone number together.
If you get this error, it means you need to use the email address you've tied it to, or use an alternate phone number.
After clicking the Join Now button, you'll select either the 6 or 12 bottle membership. On the signup screen, you'll select "Give this membership as a gift" and then you'll choose the duration of membership you'd like to gift. We send shipments twice per year: if you select 1 year, your recipient will get 2 shipments. If you select 2 years, your recipient will get 4 shipments.
Your recipient won't have the ability to change the wines in their shipment or add on additional bottles. If you want to give them the ability to choose which wines they get, we recommend sending them a gift card.
From the order confirmation email, click Resend gift cards. You will receive an email that contains your gift card.
Didn’t receive an order confirmation email? Please reach out to Anna at info@marthastoumen.com and she’ll help you figure out what’s going on!
Nope! Martha Stoumen Wines gift cards never expire.
Gift card: No, there is no place for you to enter a gift recipient email in addition to your own. You are emailed the gift card, which you can then forward to your recipient with a message, or print out and snail mail with a handwritten note!
Gift membership: Only if you want them to! When a new member creates a gift membership and doesn't check the box to Send a Message, then this becomes a setting on the membership that tells the system not to send any notifications to the gift recipient. These notifications include the welcome to the club email, as well as future processing emails. The gift recipient will still receive an order confirmation and shipping emails.
We want to make sure that you receive your wines in excellent condition so that you can taste all of the love and care that went into their making.
Natural wine is a living product that is sensitive to things like sunlight and temperature extremes. Wine can “cook” if it is exposed to high temperatures, making it smell flat and lose its vibrancy, and bright flavors can become muddied and taste stewed.
Below freezing, wine can freeze in the bottle and expand, pushing out the cork or breaking the glass bottle.
Cold Chain shipping is some temperature-controlled logistics sorcery, part of the same magic that gets vaccines around the country and Dippin’ Dots to your favorite waterpark in high summer.
Each summer, we work with FedEx and their national network of 90 temperature controlled warehouses to make sure that your wine arrives in perfect condition. Each Monday morning, a refrigerated FedEx truck arrives at our warehouse and picks up all of the orders from the past week. Everyone’s wine is sent out to regional temperature controlled facilities, and delivered the following week. It’s not fast! But it’s also significantly cheaper than overnight shipping, and has a smaller (though not insignificant!) carbon footprint.
During the summer months we recommend ordering larger quantities (12+ bottles) to avoid reordering. Put a case together with neighbors and friends, throw a party, stock your cellar, go wild!
